Destinations / Itineraries Meals in Bhutan

    Hi Lucky and team,

I realize this was a while ago, but I really enjoyed your Bhutan trip report and am considering going in the next few years. I'm deciding the best way to to about it and I like the idea of using points for a hotel stay like you did which dropped the daily cost down to $165. My question is about meals, which were not included in your reduced price. Where did you eat? Were you forced to eat all of your meals at the hotel or could you have your driver take you to local places? If so, then once you were there you actually paid for your meals like at a normal restaurant, yes? What are food costs like outside of the major hotels?

Thanks in advance for your help. I can save up the Marriott points I need for a points redemption and I like that it comes with a much-reduced daily rate, but if for some reason the cost of food negates that reduction it's not worth it.

    Thanks for the great blog!
