Lucky - i was stuck in the awful ATL airport fire last December. My Southwest flight was cancelled along with every other flight and In order to get back to DC for a meeting, I snagged one of the few cars left at Avis, drove to Charlotte, spent the night there and drove the remainder back to DC that Monday morning. I submitted a claim for the hotel / food for the one night. After much back and forth with Citi, they are denying my claim because i rented a car and took another method of travel home. This seems ridiculous to me. Regardless of how i got home (which, by renting a car was easily a day sooner than I would have gotten home based on the re-booking patterns that day) I would have had to incur a hotel night/food/etc. Do you think this is a legitimate denial or should I fight back?
