Inflight Experience / Seating American policy for taking seats

    I'm platinum exec with American. I had a boarding pass for a first class seat. It was an upgrade. I was going from Charlotte to Las Vegas yesterday afternoon. I was on a phone call near the gate throughout the boarding precess. When I went to board at the end of the process I was told my seat had been given away. "Oh well, not the end of the world," I thought. Then I got on the flight to see that my seat had been given to a uniformed gate agent type person. There were four people on the upgrade list and standbys still waiting. Is there a published policy that anyone knows about to address when seats can be taken from upgraded revenue customers for employees?
