I'm active duty military and recently got stationed overseas, in Italy. During orientation I was informed that there is a way to pay rent to an Italian landlord via credit card (it's a service the base provides). The cost to do this is 2 euros.
I expect my rent to be roughly 2,000 euro a month. What would be the best way to make the most out of this opportunity? As active duty military, most banks will waive the annual fee for cards, and I already have an AMEX Plat card. Is there another card I should open in order to take advantage of sign up bonuses, or should I focus on accruing AMEX points?

I'd take advantage of some sign up bonuses:

Citi AAdvantage Personal Card - 60k bonus
    CitiBusiness AAdvantage - 70k Bonus
Chase Ink Business Preferred - 80k Bonus
Chase Ink Business Cash - 50k Bonus

If you want to focus on Amex, you might want to consider their other cards - Preferred Rewards Gold, Everyday, Everyday Preferred cards and get the bonuses on those as well. With the last two cards, you'd earn an additional bonus on all purchases if you have at least 20-30 transactions each month. While rent will only earn 1 point per dollar, those are great ways to get a bonus on the spend that you wouldnt other wise receive.
